SEPTEMBER 2022

WELCOME SEPTEMBER

By Lianna Armstrong

Fall is slowly approaching but we are holding onto summer days as much as we can before we huddle inside on stormy days with hot coffee, a blanket and a good book. This month we are celebrating a big Anniversary for Evolve Interior Design. Lianna shares more on how Evolve came to be and her experience running a Interior Design Business. We share favourite books of the summer, current projects we are working on, a fun holiday and more.

Evolve Interior Design 14th Anniversary

Its hard to believe that Evolve has been around for 14 years this month! There have been highs and lows and even a hiatus but here we are! I wanted to take a minute and reintroduce myself to anyone who is new here

My name is Lianna Armstrong and I am the owner and principal designer here at Evolve Interior Design Ltd. Evolve started with a dream and the name registration in 2004 when I graduated from The International Academy of Design & Tech (Toronto). It took me until 2008 when the recession hit to take a (huge) leap of faith and start out on my own in Vancouver, BC.

In 2019 I made the move back to my hometown of Nanaimo, BC and launched Evolve here. It has been a wild ride but I am proud of where I am today and I feel really lucky every day to do what I love! I wanted to share a bit about me and what keeps me balanced from work.

I am a dog mom to 2 fur babies Buddy & Winnie

I love everything outdoors with a new found passion for mountain biking!

I am competing in a 30km adventure race this month (MOMAR) in Cumberland, BC

I was born & raised in Nanaimo (3rd generation) and feel most at home here.

I love to combine my love of the outdoors with traveling and have hiked the West Highland Way (154km) in Scotland

I have won a few design awards over the years and always strive for each project to be the best it can be.

My life’s mantra is to evolve.. personally and professionally so I am always reading a self development book or working with coaches and mentors that can help me work improving. 

My favourite part of design is working with unique clients and helping their visions come to life.

I have 2 very different design styles I like and joke that I need 2 houses to accommodate (contemporary and traditional)
